Bette Anne (Feldman) Silverman of Livingston passed away on February 17, 2024 at the age of 87. Bette Anne was born on September 27, 1936 in Fall River, MA to Frances (Lidman) and Nathan (“Noonie”) Feldman. She was married to the love of her life Richard Silverman for 66 years and shared with him a lifetime of travel, good food and wine, laughter, and tears.
Bette Anne graduated from Mt. Holyoke College in 1958 and met Richard during her senior year. After brief stays in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Virginia, she and Richard settled in Livingston, NJ.
Bette Anne was an avid reader of history and political science as well as psychological and legal thrillers. She loved to cook and was particularly proud of her lemon souffle´. She was just as comfortable in blue jeans and sweatshirts as she was in fine clothing and jewelry and prided herself on always looking beautiful. While she did not work for much of her life, she had a number of interesting jobs teaching Political Science at Rutgers University – Newark, working for a Speakers’ Bureau that exclusively represented women, and for the Admissions offices of a private school in New York City as well as a college in Western MA. She received a Masters Degree in Political Science from Rutgers University.
In 1976 she and Richard took their first international trip together to Paris, fulfilling a promise he made to her once they became engaged. She and Richard were longtime members of Temple B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, NJ.
Richard pre-deceased Bette Anne in December 2023. She is survived by her children Jodie and Neill and their families.
Funeral arrangements were private.
