
Charles B Turner, age 79, died suddenly on May 10, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of New Jersey and a deeply devoted husband to Stephanie, the love of his life. Fifty years ago he convinced Stephanie to relocate from California to New Jersey where they built their life together. Charles was the loving father of his three sons, Andrew, Jonathan (Melissa) and Fred (Deborah). He adored and took great pleasure in his four granddaughters Julia, Natalie, Alexandra and Lauren who loved him just as much. Charles was close friends with his brother Leon (Lola) and his children who loved their Uncle.
He was a highly respected "old school" lawyer who practiced his profession for more than 50 years. Based in South Orange (Essex County) he appeared in courts throughout New Jersey. For the last 20 years he practiced law with his son Andrew, which was a deeply rewarding experience for him in passing his careful craft and attention to the next generation.
Charles was also a gifted musician who played cell nearly his entire life, and for many years with the Metropolitan Orchestra. He also enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and close friends.
Charles graduated Weequahic High School in Newark, the city of his birth. He went on to receive his B.A. from the University of Michigan and earned his J.D. from Harvard University School of Law.
Charles was pre-deceased by his dear parents Martha and Morris Turner. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 13 at 12noon at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Rd, Livingston.
He will be deeply missed by all of those he loved and touched.
