Cynthia Lamb Silverman of West orange, died on October 22, 2011 of pancreatic cancer at Overlook Hospital in Summit. She was 65. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Dr. William Silverman, sisters Ellen Steuer and Andrea Gaynor, stepdaughter, Kathy Hurwitz Roseman, two grandchildren and many adoring nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gerald Hurwitz in 1981.
Born in New York City, she graduated from Bergenfield High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and master’s degree from New York University. She taught elementary school in the River Edge school district for 36years.
She was a NJEA Political Action Committee Liaison for NJ State Senators Matthew Feldman, Byron Baer, and Gerald Cardinale.
She was a member of Blue Wave NJ and Temple Beth Sholom in Livingston.
Funeral service was held at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Funeral Home, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ
Donations may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Center in MYC or the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
