Diane Denburg, (nee Newmark) 88, a long-time South Orange resident passed away peacefully Friday, April 13. Born and raised in Newark, Diane was a proud graduate of Weequahic High School where she served as editor of her yearbook.
For many years she served as president of the Fight For Sight League of Northern NJ. She also served alongside her husband Stanley on the board of The Eye Center at the Children’s Hospital in Newark. She was also a dedicated volunteer with tutoring students through The Achieve Foundation in Maplewood-South Orange. An avid reader, Diane’s love for books led to an appointment to the board of the South Orange Public Library.
She enjoyed years of travel, bridge and Mahjong with lifelong friends and was a member of Temple B’nai Abraham and Green Brook Country Club.
Predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1992, Diane is survived by her loving children, Richard, his wife Melanie, Cindy, her partner Lisa, and Gary and her grandsons Michael and Andrew. She is also survived by her brother Michael Newmark (Cheryl) and her sister Carol Jacobs (Brad).
The family would like to acknowledge and thank her caretaker, Rose. Services will be held 1:15pm today at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston with interment to follow at B’nai Abraham Memorial Park in Union.
