I used to work for Dr.Rothfeld when I came to the United States. They were such a nice and kind family. Dr. Rothfeld save my father’s live almost 30 years ago when my father came here from Poland and almost died here form  heart condition.  Thanks to Dr. Rothfeld, my father was able to enjoy extra  30 years of his life ( he passed away last year at age 90) 
My family and I was always grateful for what Dr. Rothfeld did for us.

I'm assuming I'm Don's longest friend. I have a picture of Don and I in a baby carriage on Schley St. in Hillside .  That's 83 years of friendship. He's already being missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Donald’s passing.  I still have all of the beautiful dolls he would give me each year when I was growing up. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his loved ones.

Dear Susan, Stephen and Benjamin --

I am so very sorry to read  in the NYTimes the sad news of Don's passing.  Until November he was emailing with me, curious as ever, about artists working in Israel.

There are no good words to change the harsh reality of mortality, especially losing a parent.  So certain and yet always so surprising.  I hope you will find some solace in the memories by which our loved ones remain a part of us.  

May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem, and may you know no sorrow for a very long time.

I knew Dr. Rothfeld from working a NBIMC and later became our family cardiologist. He was one of the best doctors you could have watching over you. He was an amazing photographer.  His photos from his worldly travels lined the walls of Consultant in Cardiologist. Always loved looking at his adventures. May his life be a blessing.

Donald Rothfeld was my dr from 1980 until he retired. You couldn't find a better doctor than Donald.    He was also my mothers ,grandfathers and sister's cardiologist as well.   He helped us through many health issues and was always available to answer questions. 
Our deepest sympathy to the Rothfeld Family.  Thank you Donald for  everything.  Rest In Peace.

Dear Stephen & Ben,  
I  write to express my condolences on the passing of your Dad who was so patient  all those many years ago when your Mom and I sat for hours and hours at your Millburn dining table or in the little Brevort living room going over our criminal law notes that first year and the two that followed.  Don's good humor throughout our law school ordeal was a life-saver.  He was generous and kind and never made me feel like a fifth wheel when we'd all go to the movies or out to dinner. Dr. Rothfeld was my first cardiologist for many years..  I was sad for me when he retired, but happy for him to live his dream in Manhattan.  As I am an artist, he and I had many conversations about abstract and conceptual art, my specialty.  He loved non representational art as much as I do.  He was a very tall, imposing figure but with a fantastic way of relating to his patients.  It is a loss to humanity that he is no longer with the world.  As you can tell, I really related to him.  My sympathy to his family. 

The painting is one of my latest work.  I occasionally create more representational work.
