Born in Newark, NJ to parents Samuel and Mary and raised in Hillside, NJ, Dr. Rothfeld raised his family and lived in Millburn before moving to Manhattan 13 years ago.
Dr. Rothfeld graduated from Muhlenberg College and Thomas Jefferson Medical School. He then served in the United States Navy from 1967 - 1970 as a Lieutenant Commander. He founded Consultants in Cardiology, initially in Millburn. Dr. Rothfeld retired from his practice in 2010.
Surviving are his wife, Susan (Slater) Merker; sons Stephen and Benjamin (Amy) and two grandchildren, Simon and Leah. Dr. Rothfeld was predeceased by his first wife, Harriet Weill in 2005.
Burial at B’Nai Abraham Memorial Park in Union, NJ was private.
