Elaine Yvette Roth

Born to David and Rose Levine on December 15th 1922 in Orange NJ, Elaine was raised in Newark along with her brother William, who died in WWII. Elaine graduated from Weequahic High School and attended secretarial school afterwards.

She married Sanford [Chuch] Kessler and settled in Springfield N.J. where they raised their three sons, David, Burt and Jay. After the untimely death of Chuch, she began working in the office at Temple Beth Ahm in Springfield, of which she was a founding member.

She reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Robert Roth, also of Springfield and eventually they married and blended their families together. Robert had four daughters Rona, Cheryl, Bobbie and Lois and Elaine became the most loving and caring step-mother to the girls.

Elaine was a lifetime member of Temple Beth Ahm. She was always active in the Beth Ahm community, serving on many committees, but especially enjoyed participating in the Women’s League and Sisterhood. Elaine was also very active in Hadassah and Deborah Heart and Lung Center.

She was predeceased by her second husband, Robert Roth, in 2010, her son, Jay Kessler in December 2016, and her step-daughter, Rona Roth Siegel Greenberg in November of this year.

She is survived by her loving sons, David, Burt (Duane Sisson), her loving daughters, Cheryl Ross (Harry Plastik), Bobbie D’Angelo (Jerry) and Lois Carroll (Todd). She also is survived by her loving and devoted grandchildren, Heath Kessler, Jesse Kessler, Nicole Kessler, Alison Sherman, Marnie Ross, Jamie D’Angelo, Jennifer D’Angelo, Jessica Demcsak and Amanda Hannum. Elaine is also the proud great-grandmother of Domenic, Vanessa, Luke, Lexi, Devin, Dylan, Matilda and Violet.

Services will be held on Sunday, December 17 at 1:15 pm at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ.
