Felix S. Jacob, age 93, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 31 in Paramus, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Frances Beckles; his son David; daughter-in-law Karen; and his three grandchildren, Matthew, Evan, and Alexa.
Born in Baltimore, Felix overcame a challenging childhood, experiencing the trauma of losing his father at the age of three and his mother at eighteen. Despite these profound losses, he excelled academically, skipping multiple grades and graduating from the University of Maryland at just 20 years old. He went on to earn his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1955.
Felix spent his career first practicing law and later working in accounting in Baltimore. Even after moving to New Jersey in late 2023, he never fully retired. He remained actively involved in the community, including serving as Chairman of the Baltimore Area Terrapin Club and as Co-President of the Baltimore chapter of the Menorah Lodge of B’Nai B’rith.
A passionate sports fan, Felix was devoted to the University of Maryland Terps basketball and football teams. He loved recounting his trip to the Orange Bowl in 1954 and later witnessing the Terps’ NCAA basketball championship victory in 2002. Many of his conversations ended, fittingly, with a spirited “Go Terps.”
Beyond college sports, Felix was a longtime fan and season ticket holder of the Baltimore Orioles, Colts, and later the Ravens. If there was a game to attend or watch on television, he was there—often hosting friends for lively watch parties, with his schedule happily shaped around game time.
Above all, Felix’s greatest passion was his family and friends. Having overcome significant adversity himself, he developed deep empathy for others and was always eager to help. He took immense pride in his son and grandchildren and delighted in sharing their many accomplishments with anyone he met. To all who knew him, Felix was truly one of a kind.
