Fran was born at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark and raised in Hillside NJ. She lived an idyllic childhood with her parents and sister. Her father commuted to New York City to Solomon Schrenzel, a leather company in the heart of midtown, and her mother stayed home to care for the family.
After graduating Hillside High School, Fran went to Syracuse University for her BA and enjoyed sorority life where she met lifelong friends. She then went to Columbia University for her MA. Shortly after her studies, she fell in her with her life partner, Fred Rosenberg, to whom she was married for 62 years until his death in 2017. They lived in West Orange and enjoyed a wonderful life with their family and a large and close knit group of friends for whom they loved to host parties and dinners.
Fran taught Art History and was a substitute teacher throughout the West Orange school system. She also dabbled as a real estate agent. But much of her time was dedicated to her family, especially attending all her children’s many activities.
She is survived by her sister, Susan Schrenzel, her children Jane Saidenberg and Glenn Rosenberg, grandchildren Lucas and Nicholas Saidenberg, Isabela Betances and Jack Rosenberg, her brother and sister-in-law Jerome and Lee Rosenberg and her daughter and son-in-law Leah Hill and Andrew Saidenberg.
