Henry was born in Lodz, Poland where he lived with his parents until the Holocaust began. After losing his mother during the war, Henry and his father survived many of the concentration camps and were liberated from Auschwitz.
After the war, he came to the United States to finish his education and serve in the U.S. Army in Military Intelligence during the Korean War. He went on to found Hendon pools and several other successful businesses. He also was a founding member of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston, NJ, where he was a passionate congregant for more than 60 years. After retirement, Henry provided his consultative services to local business owners in an effort to give back to his community. One of the highlights of his career was being honored to represent the United States in an educational, cultural and humanitarian exchange with China for the organization People to People.
Henry had a passion for many things, among them were: tennis, which led him to be a founding member of the Israeli Tennis Center, the beach, where he spent a lot of time with his family under the sun, and was always the best dressed man in the room.
Henry spread his appreciation for life until the very end. His contagious laugh and stories from his long and full history will echo in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.
Henry is survived by his partner of 40 years, Cathy Vick; his three children, Jeannie, Michael and David; ten grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
A funeral service for Henry will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039.
