Jack Charles Chaiklin, son of Louis and Eva Chaiklin (Richard) was born in Newark, New Jersey on January 25, 1932. He enjoyed living in the Vailsburg section of Newark, Maplewood, Livingston, Verona, NJ, and Boca Raton, FL. Jack passed peacefully at 93 on Monday August 4th, 2025.
Jack was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Ruth of 70 years, whom he loved dearly. Ruth and Jack traveled the world together and were tied together at the hip, especially onboard a Crystal Cruise Lines ship, having taken over 25 voyages.
Aside from Ruth, nothing gave Jack more pleasure than spending as much time as possible with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his own family, for more than 50 years, the Nudelman family of Sao Paulo, Brazil became an extension of his family. The extreme gratification of having this additional family, to which he considered his own, added significant and meaningful purpose, pleasure, and special bonds.
Jack was a proud Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army, and also a Jewish War Veteran. Following his service, he initially started working with his father at Chaiklin Store Equipment in Newark, NJ (later named Chaiklin Cash Register Co). After a short stint in the cash register repair business, he found his true career love at New Jersey Office Supply, Co, founded by Ruth's Father, where he became the top salesman.
Jack spent long hours volunteering at Daughter's of Israel, and delivered Meals on Wheels to those in need. Jack was a member of B'nai Brith, and raised money for Israel bonds and the State of Israel. Jack was a founding member of Temple Beth Shalom in 1954. His proudest moment was when he donated a torah stand in the main sanctuary in memory of his parents. He was a member of the temple's bowling team, and the Men's Club. Jack was a Zionist who passionately believed in and supported Israel, and was fortunate to have traveled there many times.
Jack is survived by his wife, Ruth (Wishengrad), his daughter Amy Chaiklin and her husband Mitchell Ross, and son Robert Chaiklin. He was a doting grandfather of Harris Chaiklin, Tori Chaiklin, and Monique Ross, whom he was more than proud of. Jack also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, business relationships, and a plethora of friends. Jack was the ultimate people person. He loved everyone he encountered, and they loved him.
Jack will be dearly-missed. A lifetime of wonderful memories will stay with all of us forever
