Joel spent his childhood in Bayonne. He had a successful urology practice. He was Chief of Urology at Muhlenberg Hospital for several years. Most of his time was spent at Overlook Hospital where, after 40 years, he achieved emeritus status.
What brought Joel the most joy and what he was proudest of was his family. His wife of 47 years, Denise, and his daughters Nicole and Ashley. Family dinners, vacations, and board games on Sundays were very happy times.
The family grew when Tom and Nicole married. Joel was thrilled to become "Grampy" when we welcomed grandchildren Poppy and Max. Memories were created when amusing and playing with them on Friday afternoons.
Joel will be forever missed by his family and friends.
A gathering before service for Joel will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Rd, Livingston, New Jersey 07039. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. The burial will take place at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652.
