Julia Evelyn Traurig completed her final chapter of life at 94, transitioning with beauty and grace. Her children, Stuart, Michael and Jayne were by her side every step of the way cherishing their last moments with her.
Born in the Bronx, Julia graduated Evander Childs high school. Her first job was working in Manhattan’s iconic bustling Garment District. She spoke fondly of her time there and was proud to be a union worker. She married Irwin Traurig (predeceased in 2019) and enjoyed nearly 7 decades of marriage defined by love, laughter and family. She embraced life completely, worked with passion, loved fiercely and cultivated a community of friends that brought her joy to the very end. Julia cherished the many dear friendships made at the Livingston YMCA. A dedicated member, she brought boundless energy to her aerobics class. Her relentless optimism literally lit up the gym. Julia’s vibrant smile and spirit touched everyone she met and she will be deeply missed.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, January 19, 2026 at 11am at B’nai Abraham Memorial Park, 2600 Route 22 East, Union NJ 07083.
