Kenneth J. Abbey was born on May 1, 1942 in Hempstead, New York. He married the love of his life, Hattie, in 1965 and graduated from Long Island University in 1968 with a degree in History. He held several sales positions before starting his own corporation, Avar Sales International.
Ken’s number one priority was always his family. He moved to Great Neck after he and Hattie were married and helped to take care of his in-laws as if they were his own parents. He supported his wife through college and in her own business pursuits. As a father to his only child Michael, he attended every play, every sports game, even coaching his son’s soccer team. His happiness in becoming a father was only surpassed by his joy when he became a grandfather to his beloved grandson Benjamin.
He enjoyed watching sports, sailing and spending his summer evenings watching performances at Steppingstone Park.
He is survived by his beloved wife Hattie Abbey of Great Neck, New York, son Michael Abbey, daughter-in-law Mara, and grandson Benjamin of Short Hills, New Jersey, and his brother Arthur Abbey and sister-in-law Diane, of New York, New York. Kenneth will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
