Dear Harvey and Erica,

My heartfelt condolences to  and your entire family.  

 I had only met Louis twice but both times were memorable!  How proud he was of the Esther Gitlow Towers and Yvette & Louis Senior Buildings.  His legacy will continue on in the countless seniors helped by residing in the buildings.

Keeping you all in my thoughts during this sad time.

Dear Family, 
You know how we feel about Uncle Lou and Aunt Vette. Words cannot express. We  miss them very much and hold our memories dear. I’ll always remember them waking me up after my appendectomy. Of course they got into the recovery room to make sure I was ok. Of course they did. When we climbed on the tank in Israel with Ian, we told him the story about Uncle Lou climbing up with you a few years earlier. Ian also knows the story about Buddy taking Jessica and me for a walk in Haworth. So many holidays and simcha shared, so many memories to hold onto and share. We love you. Elissa, Jason, and Ian

ToHarvey,Jill,Tovah and family,                                                                                                               Lou was a brother and Yvette was a sister to us.They were a team.One complemented the other.Family came first and we looked upon the Tekels as our extended family.It was an honor, not taken lightly to be in their presence.Such a high bar they set!Lou always thought of others first, himself last.He had so many causes to fight for;Israel,senior housing,Jewish Home in Rockleigh,to name a few.Lou,small in size was Monumental in stature.A decorated war hero, yet,humble and proud.We were blessed to be able to attend so many wonderful occasions;birthdays,weddings,bar mitzvahs, etc.A highlight was the Torah Lou'BROUGHT'from Russia to the US,read by his grandson,Adam at his Bar Mitzvah and then the dedication ceremony at his temple in Bergenfield,NJ.                                           Harvey,we thank you for setting up the FaceTime call  during the virus pandemic.It enabled us to speak and see Lou.In a way, it helped us say goodbye. Tovah,we enjoyed the many meals we had with you and Lou at Greek To Me in Fort Lee,NJ. when you spent your weekends with Lou.                                                  Lou was a great Man,wonderful husband, parent,grandparent and great grandparent.He was a true and beloved friend,We will miss him.We will never forget him,We will always be in AWE of him. Dear Harvey, Jill and Tovah,What a beautiful tribute to your dad . Everybody spoke so beautifully and every word was pure Lou. I am so sad since he was the last link to my parents.Boy did they have a friendship that turned into family. I will treasure all the beautiful memories we all had together.The first words he said to after my father’s funeral were,”I want you to know I will always be here for you and if you need anything just ask.” That was classic Lou, always there for others. I am so lucky to have known him for 53 years. I know he is at peace now and together with your Mom. Your Dad and Zadie ( with Yvette) were important in my entire life, in all my family milestones and memories, to Shel and my children, with support and unwavering love, always.

I have such fond memories of Lou and Yvette coming to visit south Florida when I was growing up. They were one of the only links I had to my grandfather (Paul) and I always enjoyed their stories about the family. I was saddened to hear of Lou’s passing and he and his family out in my family’s thoughts.

My mom Beverly Fradin Carter , Marc Carter and I send our warmest sympathies. The Tekelswere family to us.  I remember many a fun Passover at your home.  The last time we enjoyed Yvette’s and Lou’s company was at my daughter’s Bat mitzvah here in Scottsdale.  Both Lou and Yvette put smiles on all our faces….  It was an honor having them join us.  Yvette was my mother’s best childhood friend. Friends for life. I know your parents are looking down on us and kvelling while looking over  their darling children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dear Harvey and Jill,
We are so sorry to hear about your dad.  We know that he and your mom were absolute pillars of the Hadassah community and gave so much of their hearts and souls to Hadassah, not to mention financial contributions.   Thankfully your dad lived a full and long life, but we know that a parent is a parent and we miss them no matter when they pass. We are thinking of you at this difficult time and wish you to be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.  May Louis's memory be for a blessing.

Lou was a beloved patriarch of our family, small in stature but mighty in his love of all the Tekels.
