Marie Puleo (nee Gonnello) of Bloomfield passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, December 27, 2020. She was 99 years old.
Born in Newark to the late Carmella (nee Accomando) and James Gonnello, She lived in Bloomfield for many, many years.
Marie spent over 30 years with Bamberger’s/Macy’s in Newark, retiring from the Billing Department more than 20 years ago. Formerly she worked in assembly for Tung Sol in Bloomfield.
She was also a long time member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Newark.
She was the beloved wife of the late Philip Puleo, loving mother of John and his wife Bernadette (Bonnie), Mildred Cowen and her husband John (Jack) and the late Marie Elena Pascavage and her husband Phillip , dear sister of Anne Nye and her husband Charles, Judith Ferrentino, and the late James Gonnello, cherished grandmother of Michael Cowen and his wife Christine; Philip Puleo and his wife Rebecca; James Puleo and his wife Cynthia; and Stephen Cowen and his wife Ashley, and adored great grandmother of Emily and Jack Cowen, Cooper and Grayson Puleo, Lucas and Nicholas Cowen and Beatrice (Birdie) Puleo.
Graveside services are being held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 11 am in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Orange, NJ, under the direction of the LaMonica Memorial Home in Livingston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Marie’s name to your favorite charity.
