I had the pleasure of befriending Mike through work.  Mike represented the real estate department at Toys R Us and while he was an incredible attorney, he was an even better friend and human.  Long after Toys went away and I worked for other retailers, Mike would reach out to see how I and my family were doing.  We would have spirited conversations on many topics for hours on end.  While he may have disagreed with some of my views at no point did he ever waiver in his friendship.  

I will miss Mike and remember him as a wonderful person.

My sincere condolences to Michael’s family and to his brother Robert or Jonesey as we affectionately called him. I remember Michael fondly as a tennis player at Center court and as a parent coming to visit my school now called Gottesman RTW Academy to possibly enroll his son Matthew in the school. Michael is gone way too soon:(  May his memory be a blessing and a comfort to all of you.

I am Lila Roberts daughter, Beth Benson. She was one of the GEMS and has been gone two years.  Janet Chernus told me of Michael’s passing and on behalf of the Roberts family, I wish to express my deepest sympathy to all who were part of his life.

Our mothers were dear friends since the age of 7 or 8. Growing up, Michael was like a cousin to me. We moved to Livingston because of the Jonses. We were together constantly as kids. I will always remember Michael as a warm, sweet, smiley, caring person. 

I just found out about Michael's passing and am crushed. 
My heart goes out to Bobby, Beth and Matthew. I am so, very sorry for the loss of your beloved Michael.

I won't even try to list them all. You were always the person of reason, you never seemed to get too high or too low (except when on the tennis court) with whatever situation we were in, a calming force.

Mike was a terrific individual who always greeted me with a smile, a bright light,  and warm wishes… I am truly really sad over his loss as I know he was truly dedicated guy to his family , friends and law firm… my heartfelt condolences to the family    Sincerely, Rich Weiner 

For some reason he's one of those people that I just loved to see or talk to.  We did not get together more than the ICSC events but couldn't wait to see Jonesy!!!  My first deal I did with him many years ago was a Waldbaum's out on Long Island.   He was on the tenant side, but it didn't matter we had a great time working out the lease details.  I'm just devastated by this, and this great happy soul will be with me forever.   

We were so very sorry to hear of Michael’s passing. He was truly a mensch in every way and one of the gentlest souls I have ever met.

I am sad to hear that Mike passed away.I remember him as a friendly nice guy.I met him in middle school every time I ran into him he was always friendly and had a smile.May his family keep their fond memories in their hearts forever .Rest in peace .My condolences to his family.

We were heartbroken to hear of Michael's passing. We all have such incredible memories of growing up on Falcon Road together with him and Bobby. I am so sad to hear of Mike's passing. Gone way too soon. I am sorry for your loss, to all of his friends, colleagues and family. A good man.

My heat is breaking sadness for your family .I have such warm beautiful memories of Mike and my brother Jeffery and chev , David  koss.  Lance. David farber.just all of them but Mike was always the warmest  smiling always with his army jacket on in those days .mike  calmness was welcomed I know at least he isn’t alone with my brother by his side now.sadly Ricky Davidson 

Michael was not only a friend and neighbor, he also was a wonderful role model for my family. 
Michael’s spirit was remarkable; may his light continue to shine in all those who were blessed to be in his circle of friends, professionals and most importantly, family.  

So very sad today and thinking of the entire AJ ones family and the extended family and friends of this remarkable man. Mike or “Jonesy” as I new him, was a great mentor and became a trusted colleague and friend. I pray that God may bless him and keep him in all his grace and send sincere sympathies and condolences to his family.
