Richard Daniel Silverman of Livingston passed away on December 11, 2023 at the age of 91. Richard was born on December 1, 1932 in Boston, MA to Sonia (Feldman) and Joseph Silverman. He was married to the love of his life Bette Anne (Feldman) Silverman for 66 years and shared with her a lifetime of pleasures, travel, and joy. He was just as happy sitting at home with his wife listening to opera or classical music as he was traveling through Paris and Burgundy with her.
He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he received two Bachelor’s degrees, in Engineering and Math, and served in the Army for two years upon graduation. After a few stopovers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Virginia, he and Bette Anne settled in Livingston, NJ.
For much of his life, Richard was an entrepreneur, choosing to forge his own path rather than follow in the footsteps of others. Earlier in his life, Richard was an avid tennis player, and was a member of the U Mass tennis team, and for many years regularly played on Sundays with the same group of men. In 1972, he travelled to Israel with his family, fulfilling a life-long dream. He and his wife were longtime members of Temple B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, NJ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Jodie and family and son Neill and family.
Funeral arrangements were private. Contributions may be made in his name to United Jewish Appeal or Jewish Family Services of Metrowest New Jersey.
