Robert (Bob) was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He served in the Navy during World War II and went on to graduate from Harvard University on the GI Bill, Class of 1948.
Robert obtained his CPA and MBA degrees and had a long career in commercial finance. He founded his own commercial finance business that was subsequently acquired by National Newark & Essex Bank (later Midlantic and then PNC). Robert headed up the bank’s commercial finance division for 30 years. Robert remained active after retirement. He served as an expert witness and mediator and arbitrator in commercial disputes and served for many years on the board of The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and other civic boards and committees. Robert was an avid tennis player and loved the piano, opera and classical music of all varieties.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Caral of 67 years; his children Barbara Klein, Lois Klein, and Stephen Klein and his wife Marianne; and his grandchildren Charles Klein, Emma Edney, Margaret Klein, Matthew Edney, and Samuel Klein.
