

Bob was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and resided in Livingston for the past 46 years.
Bob retired as President and CEO of Manischewitz & Co., where he worked his entire career. He was most recently Vice President of Jewish Vocational Services; previously, he served as Vice President of the American Jewish Congress and member of the Board of Trustees; Board Member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Metro West; Board Member of the American Jewish Committee (Northern New Jersey region); Chair of Governor Whitman's New Jersey- Israel Chamber of Commerce; and a member of Temple B'Nai Jeshurun, Short Hills.
After retirement, in addition to the many charities and causes to which he dedicated his time, Bob continued to be an avid learner, taking courses every semester for over 20 years at the New School, the 92nd Street Y, and NYU.
Bob had a contagious zeal for life. He saw the best life had to offer and inspired friends and loved ones to do the same. He enjoyed theater, music, art, literature, gardening, food and travel. Most of all, Bob loved his family and was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather.
Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara (Barron) Starr, children: Ian Starr and his wife Natalie Choate, Susan Sered and her husband Yishai Sered, step children: Renée Levin and her husband Steven Levin and Michelle Schaap and her husband John Perkoff. Bob is also survived by nine grandchildren: Barak Sered, married to Ifeolu Sered, Yoav Sered, married to Loren Atkins, Asher Sered, Shifra Sered, Noah Levin, married to Patricia Nagle, Benjamin VanPratt Levin, married to Aisha VanPratt Levin, Daniel Levin, Joshua Perkoff and Elana Maggie Perkoff. He was predeceased by his first wife, Bernice (Cohen) Starr, and by his sister, Norma Meyer.
