

Bertha Mae Foster was born on May 15, 1922 in Memphis, Tennessee to Freeland Henry and Lula Woodson. She spent her life as a devoted wife, mother and member of Grace CME Church in Detroit, Michigan. In 1948, she joined the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an excellent cook, loved to chat with family and friends, and cared for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bertha had a vibrant, spicy personality and everyone who met her, loved her. She never met a stranger. She spent the last golden years of her life, with her devoted granddaughter and caregiver, Antionette Foster. They were roommates, traveling buddies, spent time going to church, dining out and visiting family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Coleman Benjamin Foster, a son, Arthur Foster (Gloria Foster), six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her two sons Anthony Foster (Ola Foster), Chester Foster (Donna Parker), and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives. Bertha passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Livonia.
Bertha will be laid to rest, next to her beloved husband, on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Woodlawn Cemetery, located at 19975 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48203. Visitation will be from 11 until the time of service at 12 noon.
