

Darlene Rosby Moore was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Lavater Moore and Margaret King Todd on March 22, 1948. She was raised in Russellville, Kentucky, and was one of eleven children. Shortly after graduating from high school, she moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she began working as a Medical Technologist at Henry Ford Hospital.
In 1979, she married Clarence Edward Hines, and together they raised three children. In 1990, Darlene began teaching at Highland Park Community College. In 1993, she earned her Master’s Degree in Education Management from Wayne State University and later accepted an administrative role at the college, serving in that capacity until its closure in 1996.
In 1998, Darlene began teaching at Crockett High School in Detroit and retired from Detroit Public Schools in 2010. Following her retirement, she founded Nostalgia Antique Appraisal Services, where she worked as a certified appraiser. In 2019, she joined Brightmoor Christian Church and remained an active and engaged member.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Clarence Hines; her three children, Marlon Hines (Jennifer), Camille Bulley (DeSean), and Jamaal Hines (La’Wanda); and her grandchildren, DeSean Bulley II, Shane Bulley, Sanaa Bulley, Lucas Hines, and Laila Hines. She is also survived by her siblings, Marvin Moore, William Bennett Todd Jr., Phil Todd, Paula Bigbee, Eugenia Todd, Wanda Todd, Margarette McCarty, Forest Todd, and Sheila Oldham, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, William Bennett Todd; her mother, Margaret King Todd; and her sister, Helen Todd.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am at Brightmoor Christian Church, 40800 W 13 Mile Rd, Novi, MI 48377. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 am. The service will be available via livestream at https://brightmoorchurch.org/media/
