David Eugene Rekuc was born on June 30, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents; Eugene and Eleanore(Praizner)Rekuc. David passed away on August 28, 2021 at the age of 69. He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra (Baker) Rekuc of 42 years, three daughters; Carla (Brian) Mackey, Krystyna Rekuc and Jennifer (Robert) Dixon, three grandchildren; Molly Mackey, Emma Mackey and Evelyn Dixon and his three brothers; Dennis (Karyn) Rekuc, Tom (Sharon) Rekuc and Tim (Treacy) Rekuc. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Dave graduated from St. Frances Cabrini High School in Allen Park, Michigan in 1970. After high school Dave transferred to Sacred Heart Seminary where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree. He retired from his position as Chief Operating Officer at McDonald Ford Inc of Northville where he worked proudly for many years. Dave was very involved within his community and served as a past president of Council 54 of the Polish National Alliance as well as past president of Northville Rotary. He was also a long time member of St. Kenneth Catholic Church in Plymouth and Plymouth Knights of Columbus, honoring him as Knight of the Year 2016-2017. After retiring, Dave had to keep busy and could never just sit at home. There was never a sporting event, choir or band concert, dance recital, or parade where he was not cheering loud and proud for his kids, grandkids, nieces, or nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday September 1, 2021 from 4:00-8:00pm with a 7:00pm rosary at Harry J Will in Livonia. Funeral mass Thursday September 2, 2021 at 11:00am (in state 10:30am) at St. Kenneth Catholic Church in Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Kenneth Catholic Church or Knights of Columbus Seminarian Fund (Fr. Renaud Council #3292).
