

Debbie was born in Long Beach, California and loved the beach scene in southern California. Immediately after graduating from Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, California in 1974, she entered the United States Army and served her country honorably. Following her release from the Army, she moved to Michigan and pursued her career with the U.S. Postal Service, from where she retired after 30 years. She met her future husband of over 16 years, Michael while they were working together.
Debbie never met a dog she didn’t love, especially those on her route. Among her favorites were Puff and Heidi. She loved fishing, and became a Master Angler, and loved family trips or any event involving her family. She loved her country and was fiercely patriotic.
She is the loving wife of Michael Canfield and the beloved mother of Margaret and David (Jennifer) Canfield. Debbie is the loved grandmother of Aden and the daughter of Larry (Hortencia) Cook and Margaret Arnold. She is the loving sister of Lawrence Cook, Linda Guadarrama and James (Louana) Cook and the late Robert Cook. She is also survived by her dear friend Robert Kliemann.
Friends may visit her family on Monday, July16, 2012 from 4-9 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile in Livonia, Michigan 48152 with Rosary service at 7 pm. She will lie in state Tuesday July 17, 2012 at St. Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh in Livonia, Michigan 48152 at 9:30 am until her Funeral Mass at 10 am with Army Military Funeral Honors to follow.
She will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
Debbie’s family suggests that memorials may be made in her honor to Angela Hospice, the Michigan Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.
