

Dennis Patrick Culloty, affectionately known as "Denny," "Big Den," "Odey/Ottis," and "Papa," passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, just shy of his 75th birthday. Born on August 29, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, Dennis was a cherished husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend.
Denny was the beloved husband of Marilyn Culloty for 48 wonderful years, having married on September 3rd 1976. He was a devoted father to Ryan Patrick (Lori), J.P. (Amber), and Danny Patrick (Amanda). As a loving Papa, he adored his grandchildren Gavin Patrick, Abbey Marie, Dylan Patrick, and T.J.
Denny was preceded in death by his sisters, Peg Culloty, Eileen Brosnan, and Mary Helmrich. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews, each of whom will remember him with great fondness.
A longtime parishioner of St. Aidan Catholic Church in Livonia, Denny was deeply involved with Monaghan Knights of Columbus, having been a dedicated Knight since he was 17. He was also a proud alumnus of St. Mary's of Redford, Class of '67, and cherished his time with the St. Mary's golf league, which remains the oldest golf league in the state of Michigan.
Golf was Denny’s passion, and he spent many joyful years organizing golf trips with friends to Florida. He and Marilyn also enjoyed participating in an annual couples golf vacation, creating treasured memories together along with their friends. His love for the sport was matched only by his enjoyment of travel and cruises, particularly in retirement, and his family vacations in Northern Michigan.
Denny met Marilyn during a softball league sponsored by Dooley's Bar, a testament to his vibrant and engaging personality. He was also a dedicated coach. For over 40 years he coached both youth and high school sports. Coaching a variety of sports from football to baseball. He found his greatest joy in supporting his children and grandchildren in their sports endeavors.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4-8 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7 p.m., followed by a sharing of memories at Harry J. Will Funeral Home-Livonia. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. (in-state at 9 a.m.) at St. Aidan Church in Livonia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Denny’s warmth, generosity, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will forever be a source of inspiration and comfort to his family and friends
