Don Karl St. John

Don was born on November 4, 1956 in Pontiac, Michigan to Glenn and Dorothy (Cardona) St. John. On June 13, 1992, he married Amy (Hocott) St John. Together they raised four wonderful children, Sarah (Brendon) Lally, Steve (Patricia) St John, Christian (Daniel) Genger, Chyna Lynn, and had one of their own together, Savannah Marie.

Don received his Electrical Engineering Degree from General Motors Institute and took humble pride in his software work. He worked tirelessly as an Engineer for 20+ years with Eaton Corporation and nearly 15 years at General Motors. Don was instrumental for his work on the Two Mode Hybrid and the Chevy Volt. Most recently, he worked as an Advanced Controls Manager on the Autonomous Vehicle Program.

Don loved his work and found tremendous camaraderie in the relationships with those he worked with.

Don had a strong passion for music and was known by many for his singing voice. He began his worship at Highland Church of the Nazarene and continued a 24 year-long ministry as Worship Leader at Hilltop Church of the Nazarene. He loved working with his team of musicians and looked forward to Worshipping together each week. In addition to music, he was an avid lover of coffee, jigsaw puzzles, sports, chocolate, and his three dogs – Poppie, Phoebe, and Dixie.

Don will forever be remembered for his quick wit, his strong faith, his love for those around him, and his spirit of generosity and compassion.

Don was greeted in heaven by his father, mother, and oldest brother (Gary). He is survived by his loving wife, five children, three younger siblings, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation: Hilltop Church of the Nazarene, 21260 Haggerty Road, Northville 4-8pm on Tuesday, April 16.

Funeral Service: Hilltop Church of the Nazarene at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 17.
