Emily Cecilia Pawlak (nee Mulcahey) was born on June 10, 1922 in Nova Scotia in Canada to her parents, the late Tom and Sarah Mulcahey. At an early age, they moved to the United States and lived in the Detroit area. She worked for 11 years as an Executive Secretary at American Motors and was always active in community service in Livonia. Emily was a member of St. Gerald Catholic Church in Farmington, Michigan since its founding.
Emily will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and for her pride in her Irish heritage.
Emily was the loving wife and "Beautiful Irish Lass" of 70 years of Mason Pawlak. She was the beloved mother of Ron (Kelly) Pawlak and the late Judith. She was the devoted grandmother to Dan Townsend, Maureen (Michael) Crawford, Jaclyn and Brent (Vanessa) Pawlak as well as the great grandmother of Cameron. She is survived by her sister Mary Margaret Ovington and brother Dennis Mulcahey and was preceded in death by the late Eileen Brenneman, Anna Babilia and Thomas Mulcahey.
Friends may visit Emily's family during a visitation for her on Friday July 20, 2012 from 4 pm until 9 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile, Livonia, Michigan 48152. During the visitation, a Rosary Service will be prayed in her memory at 7 pm. The funeral home is located on the north side of W. Six Mile, just east of I-275 and Newburgh Road.
Emily will lie in state Saturday July 21, 2012 at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 21300 Farmington Road, Farmington from 12:30 pm until her Funeral Mass at 1 pm celebrated by Fr. Festus Ejimadu. The church is located on the east side of Farmington Road, just north of W. Eight Mile Road.
A luncheon will be held at The Courthouse Grill, 41661 Plymouth Road in Plymouth following the Funeral Mass. The phone number for the restaurant is 734-453-2002.
Emily will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Her committal service will be on Monday July 23, 2012 at 12 noon.
