Mr. Garry DeVriese...I've never met you but worked for many years with your daughter-in-law, Bev. Knowing her and the person that I knew back then, she really respected the DeVriese name and the family. I know that she loved you very much. Anyone who garners the types of messages and condolences presented here, must have a been a very special person. May you RIP. Your family and friends love you very much!

I don't know if I am suppose to right on here but I am going to anyway because I would like to say a few words about my Dad. I know my father was loved by many and I am sure it will show tomorrow. Never a mean spot in his soul. I didn't know a person he disliked. He loved his euchre and harassing the weakest link which  usually was my wife Bev. He loved his golf and spending time with his grand kids. But for the past few years his main concern was caring for my Mother. Which he did with deepest concern and never a complaint. He fought hard throughout his short battle of cancer and then surgery, to get back home with my Mom only to run out of energy to fight any more. I have learned a lot from my Dad and more so in these past three weeks which we grew closer together than we have ever been. I will miss my Dad and will love him forever. Dale

Keep this light burning Garry until Joan and I meet up with you and Hector again.  Keep practicing on that Euchre game, cause you will need it.  Joan and I will continue to whoop your butts.

I've known the DeVriese family since about 1964/65 as they were neighbors across the street from our family growing up.  Our folks became neighbors and remained friends long after the DeVriese's moved away.  I grew up with Terry and remain close friends to this day.  Our families shared many happy times together (our parents went to Vegas together as well) and have great memories of neighborhood gatherings back in the day and in recent times.  My heart goes out to Joan, Terry, Danny and Dale, Alex and Jeremy and all the extended family and friends.  Garry was one of a kind.  Always had a smile, a joke and a kind word.  He was the sharpest dresser of all the dads I knew.  He always had that look on his face like he was 'up to something'.  Anytime I was with Garry I witnessed his friendliness and graciousness to others.  Garry liked to have a good time and he loved his family and provided dedicated care for his wife Joan for many years.  I know I speak for my entire family when I say Garry was a treasure and will surely be missed by everyone he knew.  Rest in peace, Garry.  xo
