

Gerald D. Schopper passed away on January 20, 2022 in Gilbert, AZ. Jerry was born in Jeffers, MN February 19, 1935. Graduated from Belleville High School and Carpenters Apprenticeship School. Preceded in death by his son, Gerald Lee, his parents Lawrence and Lillian A. and his sister Melva. He is survived by his wife Lillian May of 64 years, his son Dale (Julianna Madar Schopper), his daughter Melissa May (Thomas Robert Peck), and five grandchildren Regan and Riley Schopper, Kendall, Thomas Gerald and Jack Peck. In addition he will be remembered with love by many nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters in law.
Jerry was a successful carpenter contractor and custom home builder. Owner of Schopper Carpenter Contractor, Gerald Schopper Custom Builders and Westland Investment and Construction Company. In addition he was the builder and owner of several apartment buildings. Jerry was an avid golfer and loved watching sports of all kinds. In the last several years he spent his time cheering for his wife on the bocci court, watching his granddaughters dance, and rooting for his grandsons on the baseball diamond. He loved to travel and sing karaoke. He was reknown for his rendition of 'Mac the Knife'. He never met a stranger as he always made friends wherever he went. His zest for life, strong work ethic and fierce love for his family will always be remembered.
A Viewing service will be held at Harry J. Will Funeral Home on Friday January 28th from 1:00 to 8:00pm . A Rosary and Sharing of Memories will be led at 7:00pm and is available to view by selecting "Join Livestream" in the service section below. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Edith Catholic Church on Saturday January 29th at 11:00am with a lunch reception following. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Hospital or your favorite charity.
