Janice Paige Smith

Born on October 1, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, Janice was the beloved daughter of the late Jesse and Eva Lyons. A lifelong Michigander, Janice built a full and vibrant life rooted in family, faith, hard work, and adventure.

Janice was a proud small business owner, running her own commercial printing business for many years with dedication and resilience. Her entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic left a lasting impact on those she worked with and served.

In 2004, Janice married the love of her life, Frank Smith, with whom she shared countless memories and adventures. Together, they traveled to some of the most beautiful corners of the world, with cherished trips to Alaska, Hawaii, and Costa Rica topping the list. Their bond was one of warmth, laughter, and mutual respect.

Janice’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank; her children, Paula (Lou) Thompson, Henry Klotkowski, and Kenneth Smith; her grandchildren, Aidan Klotkowski, Tenzin Klotkowski, Joseph (Rebecca) Martini, and Diana (Jeremy) Finan; six adored great-grandchildren; and her lifelong friend and childhood schoolmate, Kay Chamberlain.

She had a deep love for animals—especially her beloved dog, Lady Bug, who preceded her in death in 2023. Her flower gardens were another passion, and she took immense pride in cultivating beauty wherever she could.

A faithful member of St. Edith Catholic Church for many years, Janice lived her life with compassion, grace, and an unwavering spirit.

Janice will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she poured into every part of her life. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Janice’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider contributions in Janice’s memory to Last Day Dog Rescue of Livonia, the organization where Janice met her dog, Lady Bug.
