John Patrick Hanks

Patrick was the beloved lifelong husband of Jenna Hanks. He was the loving father of Brigid (Genesio) Masciulli, Gavyn, Coraline, Ciaran, and Erin (estranged), and the proud and devoted grandfather of Sloane Dawn Marie Masciulli. He was the dear son of Penny of Traverse City and was preceded in death by his father, George Hanks.

Patrick worked at Smede-Son Steel and Building Supply for over 30 years, where he became known as a familiar and friendly face to all. He took great pride in his work and was deeply loyal to the company, the Huyser family, and the friendships he built there over the years. Outside of work, Patrick and Jenna were well known as regulars at Coach’s Corner in Livonia. It was a place where they spent many happy moments together and formed special friendships with the owners and staff who became extended family.

More than anything, Patrick loved being with his family. He adored his wife Jenna and treasured even the simplest moments they shared together. Whether out with friends or resting at home, he was never without her and was always happiest at her side. His love for his children was deep and constant, and becoming a grandfather brought him an incredible amount of joy.

Patrick had a special bond with his granddaughter, Sloane. He loved every opportunity he had to see her and would gladly take weekends to travel and spend time with her whenever he could. Those visits were some of his most cherished moments.

Patrick will be remembered for his loyalty, his big heart, and the love and generosity he had for the people in his life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral Visitation will be held at Harry J. Will Funeral Homes, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Funeral In State will take place at St. Edith Catholic Church, 15089 Newburgh Rd, Livonia, Michigan 48154, on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
