John Valente

John was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Eleanor, parents Antonio and Emilia Valente and brother Mario

John is survived by his sister Marion Sobczak. Sister in Law Maria Valente, nieces Angela Wiseman, Diane Pochmara (Greg), Lisa Cox (Jim) and Loriana Valente, great nephews Matt Pochmara (Maddie), Dan Pochmara, Ben Cox (Claire), Nick Cox and Nathan Cox

John was born in Englewood, New Jersey in 1930… First generation American, born of immigrant parents from Italy. Moved with family several times, to Pennsylvania and then Detroit in 1941. He went to tech school and ultimately retired from Saratoga Hospital after 37 years as an Xray technician.

He met and married his wife, Eleanor Figas in 1957.

They enjoyed travel to many exotic places …Russia, Africa, Italy and Scandinavia, to name a few…

He enjoyed Sunday drives in the country, gardening and tending to his pear tree.

He spent his last years living with his sister and time spent with family.

A visitation for John will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Homes, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
