Karen Adele Young Faulkner was born on August 16, 1945. By all accounts she began wreaking havoc from day one, evidenced in the following statement rumored to be frequently uttered by her mother: "Karen, you are worse than the other three put together!" If you knew Kay then you can appreciate the liklihood of this sentiment.
Kay was a retired speech pathologist, a writer and a champion of the underdog. She loved with every fiber of her being and if you were blessed to count yourself among those people then you know how big her heart was and is.
In her later years, Kay became deeply devoted to learning the intricacies of the bible and God's word. In her usual fashion, she threw herself into her studies and learned everything that she could, writing scripture on random scraps of paper still being found by her family.
Kay is survived by her children: Richard L. Faulkner and Melissa S. Faulkner and her (semi) ex-husband Richard S. Faulkner. She is also survived by her sister Elsa J. Young and Leonard J. Young and family.
The love Kay gave, the spirit she was and is will be cherished for all time. May these blessings be returned to her a thousandfold.
Kay's life will be honored at Harry J. Will Funeral Home on Monday, July 21, 2014. Visitation will be between 12-2 and a brief service will be held at 2pm. Kay requested that donations be made to N.A.R.S.A.D in lieu of flowers.
