Luigi “Gino” Petrucci, 89, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019 at home. Gino was born on June 1, 1930 in Sant’ Elia, Italy to Giuseppe & Giustina (Salvatore) Petrucci. At age 25, Mr. Petrucci relocated to the United States in December of 1955. He met his future wife Assunta Vergati in English class in Detroit. They married on September 3, 1960. Mr. Petrucci was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. He was one of five partners in Rainbow Construction Company. Gino enjoyed his retirement years golfing, exercising, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Petrucci is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Assunta; sons, Bruno (Lauri) Petrucci, Mauro (Amy) Petrucci, Franco (Elena) Petrucci; daughter, Marisa (Marc) Mersino; and thirteen grandchildren: Anthony Petrucci, Adriana Petrucci, Micaela Petrucci, Nicolas Petrucci, Christina Petrucci, Gabriella Petrucci, Juliana Petrucci, Francesca Petrucci, Sophia Petrucci, Vincenzo Mersino, Dino Mersino, Daniela Mersino and Valentina Mersino.
Friends may visit on Monday, Sept. 30 from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. (with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.) at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 30000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, MI 48152. Visitation continues on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 10:30 a.m., at St. Colette Catholic Church 17600 Newburgh, Livonia, MI 48152. Procession to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery for entombment immediately following Mass.
