Michael Reggish

Michael Reggish was born July 31, 1922 in Vesta Six, Pennsylvania to John and Anna (nee Zaharsky) Regish. Michael proudly served his country in combat in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He married the love of his life, Violet on September 6, 1947 at All Saints Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan. Michael continued service to his community as a Detroit Police officer. He also worked as a business agent for the Teamsters.

Michael enjoyed football and baseball and will remembered as a social man who was always there to help anyone in need.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife of over 45 years, Violet as well as his daughter Michelle. He was also preceded in death by his brother John Reggish, Jr., Joseph Regish, his sister Elizabeth Abraham, his brother Charles Reggish and his sister Annie Cole. He is survived by his children Michael Reggish, Patricia Szmit and Gary (Lynne) Reggish as well as five grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Mary Pache, Irene Payne, Frank, Stephen and Andrew Regish.

Visitation for Michael will be Tuesday June 7, 2011 from 3-9 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile in Livonia. During the visitation there will be a Scripture Service prayed in his memory at 7 pm as well as honor services from his VFW and American Legion posts. The funeral home is located on the north side of Six Mile, east of I-275 and Newburgh roads.

Funeral Services for Michael will be Wednesday June 8, 2011 at St. Edith Catholic Church, 15089 Newburgh in Livonia, Michigan 48154. Michael will lie in state at the church at 10 am until his funeral Mass at 10:30 am, celebrated by Fr. Jim McNulty.

Following his funeral Mass, there will be comittal and Army Military Funeral Honors services at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
