It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Ann Elmore, on July 30, 2021. She is survived by her 3 children, Lydia Landis (Ron) of Pleasanton CA, Laura Green (Dave) of Livonia, MI and John Elmore (Jae) of Dallas, TX and her 7 grandchildren, Kristen, Derek, Jeffrey, Mallory, Alianne, John, James and 1 great grandchild, Chace. She also had many cherished nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
She was beloved by many, as was her dry wit and cheerful personality. She also had a look that let you know immediately what she was thinking and whether you were in trouble or not. Compromise wasn’t her strength but she would do anything for her family or those she loved. Originally from Maryland where she attended Woodrow Wilson HS and the University of Maryland, I’ve never seen anyone shuck or eat a crab faster. She loved her seafood! She moved to Detroit with her husband John in the 50’s and raised her 3 children, living primarily in Westland and Livonia but never missed a summer trip to her beloved home and the beach at Rehobeth. After almost 40 years of living in Michigan they accepted an opportunity to move to Prospect, KY, which reminded her of Maryland without the crabs. This ended up being a blessing in disguise and one of her happiest and most memorable times of her life. Always active in the church, first at St. Andrews in Livonia, then St. Francis of Prospect, she contributed extensively in the community and local organizations. She especially enjoyed the women’s groups, playing bridge and being part of the church’s bible studies, following her children’s activities every step of their varied ways as they grew and developed. Always a lover of the beach, summers during this time were spent in Destin, FL.
Never one to shy away from her opinions and beliefs, she let us know in no uncertain terms when she thought we went astray. A very strong and independent woman, she lived on her own for 18 years after her husbands passing, surviving many surgeries, hospitalizations and rehabs that many others may not. She had moved back to Michigan in 2018 to be closer to family. Her final years were spent living independently at Rose Senior Living in Novi, MI continuing to make new friends.
We have been very fortunate to have her as part of our lives and will miss her dearly. A celebration of her life will be held in Prospect, KY where she will be laid to Rest next to her beloved husband at a date and time to be determined in the future.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
