Paul Alan Zimmermann

Paul A. Zimmermann, age 81 of Bloomfield Hills, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023. Beloved husband of Imogene for 55 years. Loving father of Laura (John) Kokesh and Bob (Elaheh Mohammadi) Zimmermann. Paul was preceded in death by parents Lukas and Lydia, as well as brother Don.

Paul received his Bachelor’s degree in history from Washington University in St. Louis before attending the University of Michigan, where he received a Master’s in history as well as a Bachelor’s in engineering. His passion for history continued throughout his life. Paul briefly held a research and teaching position at North Carolina State University before returning to Michigan to join the family business. He transformed his father's laboratory and built a successful manufacturing engineering business with a focus on the medical laser industry. In his spare time, Paul was an avid cyclist and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially in Northern Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, the Zimmermann family is suggesting donations to the Arts and Sciences Fund at Paul's cherished alma mater, Washington University in St. Louis.
