Ralph Hollis passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on December 18, in Northville, Michigan. He was born to Leo & Georgia (Shoebridge) Hollis on April 6, 1930, in the home his father built at on First Street in Northville. He spent most of his life there and was well-known by many people. He was a very well-liked man and good friend to all who knew him.
He went to work when he was 12 years old and by the time he graduated Northville High he had enough money saved up to pay cash for a new car. He worked many years for Ely’s in Northville, delivering ice, coal, and heating oil. Ralph retired as a truck driver from Kroger’s.
He loved to go out to eat and frequented many local establishments. Ralph was a generous man. Many times, he picked up the tab for those dining with him. He enjoyed a brewski now and then. Ralph had a sweet tooth! Loved ice cream. He would have dessert most times he ate out.
In his younger days he enjoyed working on cars. He knew a lot about them and could repair them. Never losing interest in cars, he would go to car shows whenever he could. His final days were spent watching car shows. Ralph loved his motorcycle too. He told many tales of out-running the Plymouth cops, by driving places they could not go.
Ralph was quite the talker. He also shared stories about the escapades he enjoyed with his girlfriend, Joanne. He had many adventures during his life. He had a good sense of humor and an impish smile. He will be missed.
He was predeceased by both parents, his brother Leo Jr, and his daughter Diane Schneider. He is survived by two grandchildren, Chad Schneider and Tracy Schneider and his 3 great-great grandchildren.
