Beloved husband of Nancy for 55 years. Dearest father of Andrea Gaston and Timothy (Lauren) Gaston. Loving Papa to Noah, Jacqueline, Audrey, Elise and Nathan. Son of the late Edmund J. and Phyllis T. Gaston. Dear brother to Barbara J. Gaston and Lawrence E. (dec.), (Dolores) Gaston. Special uncle to Ellen (John) Tatone, great-uncle to Julia, Ryan and Nikko Tatone, and aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
Ray was able to combine kindness with wit in all different situations of life, where advice was merited or even unsolicited. He was a dad's dad who always had room on his plate for any challenge that anyone would bring him and had a solution to every problem.
His career at Ford Motor Company included time in both Detroit and Dearborn and aligned with his passion for cars and automotive culture, whether it was going to the Woodward Dream Cruise or working on a car in the driveway. His love for Detroit did not stop with cars, as you could rarely catch him in Northern Michigan or Mexico without a Tiger's or Red Wings game on.
He worried about everyone else first and himself last. He had no interest in burdening you with his problems but would make yours go away.
His last challenge was an unexpected illness that took him quickly. He was an influential and integral part of the lives of so many. He will always be there in our hearts and minds.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1:00 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home: 37000 Six Mile Rd., Livonia, MI 48152.
