

United States Marine Corps. Veteran WWII, Retired Police Sergeant, Chief of Security Hyatt Regency Dearborn and Manager of Security Greenfield Village Henry Ford Museum.
Richard M. (aka Dick) Johnson served with the Fifth and Second Marine Division during WWII. Upon returning home from the service he went back to Northwestern High School to finish his education. Dick joined the Detroit Police Department in 1949 and retired from the Department in 1975. He was the holder of 38 meritorious citations for outstanding police work and was nominated as Detroit's most outstanding police officer in 1965. He also served as a Detective during the riots of 1967. He retired with the rank of Uniformed Sergeant in 1975.
In 1975 Dick was the Chief of Security at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn, Michigan and was named Manager of the quarter in 1976. In 1981 Dick became Manager of Security at the Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village in Dearborn and retired from there in 1990.
Beloved husband of Jean. Loving father of Carol Presley, Susan (Frank) Hill, and Rick (Yvonne) Johnson. Proud grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 15.
Visitation Sunday, October 29 from 4-8pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile Rd in Livonia. Funeral Service Monday, October 30 at 11am (in state at 10am) at Ward Presbyterian Church 40000 Six Mile Rd in Northville. Interment at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi. Memorials can be made to Mercy Ministries (15328 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville, TN 37211) or the charity of your choice.
