Robert lived a long and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community. He began his professional career with General Motors, pausing from 1950 to 1955 to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. During his time stationed in London, he met the love of his life, Beryl. The two were married on April 17, 1954, beginning a remarkable marriage that spanned more than seven decades. Soon after, they settled in the United States, where they built a life rich in love, family, and lasting memories.
Following his military service, Robert returned to General Motors, where he worked as a designer until his retirement in 1990. In retirement, his creativity and craftsmanship flourished. He spent over 20 years working at Greenfield Village in Dearborn as a skilled artisan, continuing until the age of 92. Among his many roles, he was especially known as a tinsmith and printmaker, and he took great joy in driving the Model T car.
Robert was a devoted member of Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church in Livonia, where he had been an active part of the congregation since the early 1960s. His faith and community were important pillars in his life.
He cherished time spent with his family, particularly vacations to Cape Cod, Cape Hatteras, and Maine, enjoying a lifelong love for the East Coast beaches. These trips created treasured memories that will live on through those who knew and loved him.
Robert is survived by his children: Dorrie (Geoff Kinde) Milan, Doug Brown (April Bown), and Julie (David) Ciuk; his grandchildren: Emily (Sean), Ben, Evan, Cassie (Troy), Jacob, and Alex; and his brother, Donald Brown (Rita Cooney-Brown).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beryl Brown; his parents, Howard and Edith Brown; and his brother, Howard Brown, Jr.
Robert will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his steady presence, great sense of humor, and his deep devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he helped create.
