

He was the beloved husband of Judy Rose Barthlow, sharing many cherished years of marriage together. A devoted father, Ron is survived by his sons Shawn (Jen) Barthlow and Michael (Kim) Barthlow. He was a proud grandfather to Evan, Luke, Logan, Bryan, Aryana, and Annyka Barthlow, all of whom brought him endless joy.
Ron was a dear brother to Doreen Sheposh, Kenny (Nanette) Barthlow, Keith (Mary) Barthlow, Terry (Pat) Barthlow, Tommy (Lori) Barthlow, Kevin (Pam) Barthlow, and Dawn (Brett) Casebolt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Barthlow and Bernadine Pullman, as well as his brother, Robert Barthlow.
Born on August 21, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, Ron proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He was a courageous and loyal soldier, recognized with numerous honors for his service. Among them were the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Air Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal, which reflected his bravery and dedication in combat. He also received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal, which spoke to his unwavering commitment and honorable conduct throughout his time in uniform. Additionally, Ron earned the Air Assault Badge and wore both the 101st Airborne Division and Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV) shoulder patches. His sharpshooting skills were acknowledged with the Expert and Sharpshooter Qualification Badges. He carried deep pride in his military accomplishments and the country he served.
After his military service, Ron went on to build a successful career with General Motors, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring. Outside of work, he enjoyed traveling and discovering new places with his wife and family. He had a soft spot for Las Vegas, where he relished the energy of the casinos. At home, he found quiet satisfaction in building 3D puzzles—an activity that reflected his attention to detail and steady patience.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan. A funeral service will follow on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Ronald will be laid to rest with military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Ron’s honor.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
