

Salvatore Santino Scopone was born in Ari, Italy on August 11, 1933 to Nicola and Genoveffa Scopone. He was the oldest of 4 children. Salvatore passed away peacefully with his wife, children, brothers, sister, sister in law, and brother in law by his side, on March 28, 2017 in Naples, Florida at the age of 83.
He was the beloved husband of Carolyn Binder-Scopone for 32 years. Loving father of Gina M. (Jaime) Garcia, and Daniele A. (Kristina) Scopone. Step-father of Ken Binder, Rick (Lisa) Binder, and Gina (Jim) Scarnegie. Dear "Nonno" of 12 grandchildren: Raquel (Andres) Schlaf, Chelsea Scarnegie, Austin Scarnegie, DeMarco Scarnegie, Carson Scarnegie, Alex Scopone, Aaron Scopone, AJ Scopone, Carmen Garcia, Joseph Garcia, Kristen (Adam) Salem, and Holly Atchley. Great-grandfather of Cristiano Schlaf. Dearest brother of Armando (Rose) Scopone, Adolfo (Nancy) Scopone, and Maria (Tony) Salice. Sandro will also be missed by his sister-in-law, Marleen (Ronald) Ellis, his brother-in-law, Norbert (Twila) Senkbeil, and his sister-in-law, Janeen (Wally) Boyd.
"Sandro" was proud to be an American citizen who was a successful owner of a construction company until he retired. He loved to be outdoors whether it was hunting in the woods, relaxing at the beach, or working in his vegetable garden. He was a fantastic cook and was proud that he used his home grown vegetables in his food. He was a connoisseur of wine and enjoyed making his own wine at home for all to share. He fashioned himself as "The King of Hearts" and his family would agree as the symbol was worn around his neck.
He was a extremely funny, fiercely loyal and simply "a great man" as quoted by his only son Dan. He will be deeply missed by his large family, and a host of friends.
His family will receive guests for a visitation on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 2-8pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile (Just east of Newburgh) Livonia, Michigan 48152. There will be a time for sharing during the prayer service that will begin at 7pm.
Sandro's life will be celebrated with a Mass on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 10:30am at St. Edith Catholic Church 15089 Newburgh (Just south of 5 Mile) Livonia, Michigan 48154. The Mass will be led by Father James McNulty.
Sandro will be laid to rest with committal prayers in Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan with a luncheon to follow at the Italian American Club.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Salvatore's name to his beloved church.
