Tom moved to Detroit when he was five-years-old and attended Cathedral Central High School. He graduated from the Detroit Institute of Technology and was a retired systems analyst, where he saw the evolution of the modern computer. Tom also served his country in the National Guard. In his free time he loved sailing, reading, playing chess, and traveling with his family. He was known for his intelligence, humor, and encyclopedic history knowledge. Those who attended Tom’s many Christmas parties will remember his red vest and grinch-like tendencies.
Tom is survived by his wife of 63 years, June Curtis; his son Thomas (Brandie) Curtis; his grandchildren Nicholas (Katharine Doré) Marowsky, Alexander (Rachel) Marowsky, Mikayla Curtis, and Thomas Jacob Curtis; and his first great-grandson, Rocky Curtis Marowsky.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tom’s life this week at Harry J. Will Funeral Home. A public viewing will be from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 20th, and a funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 21st. A luncheon will follow the service at the Italian American Club in Livonia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in memory of Tom’s daughter, Denise.
