Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Joni LeAnn Risto, daughter Laura (John) Shakarjian, step children Jami (Shawn), Joseph (Heather) and Stephan, grandchildren John III (Amy), Adam (Bridget) and Allie, step grandchildren Aiden, Liam and Evelyn, great grandchild Scout.
Thomas was preceded in death by his siblings Anastasia and James.
Tom was a life long educator and taught at many different schools. He was a fan of sports but especially rooted for his Detroit Teams. He loved animals and will leave behind his dog Olive who was a daddy's girl. Most important people in Tom's life will always be his family, he regularly checked on them and made sure they were safe at all times. Tom was caring and it showed, he will be missed tremendously by many family and friends.
A memorial visitation for Thomas will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Homes, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. A memorial service will occur Friday, January 18, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Harry J Will Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Residential Hospice or the Humane Society.
