William Alan Shuk died November 23, 2011 at the age of 60 while a patient at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. The awful invader of metastatic melanoma took his life quickly – a sudden three weeks from diagnosis to death.

Bill was an accomplished musician, a talented artist, a sweet, thoughtful, intelligent man. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Notes on the piano will never sound the same now that Bill is gone.

Bill was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 15, 1951. He was the second of five children born to George and Byron Shuk. Bill and his siblings, Robert, Janice, Debbie and Gail grew up in Dearborn, Michigan. Bill attended Henry Ford Community College and Eastern Michigan University where he studied art. He spent the majority of his career working in the advertising industry, most recently at Brophy Engraving as a production artist.

A deep thinker, Bill had a passion for knowledge and returned to college to study Health Information Technology in his late fifties. He desired to learn about the human body and understand its intricacies and functions. He also enjoyed music, art, travel, scuba diving, weight training, nutrition and taking care of his wife Lori and their home in Livonia, MI. He was a loving, devoted husband for 27 years (his wife wishes that they could have 27 more years together – he left her too soon). Bill was a wonderful uncle, known as “Uncle Billy Boy” to many loving nieces and nephews who greatly miss him.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, George and Byron Shuk. He is survived by his wife Lori and his four siblings Robert Shuk, Janice McCuen, Debra Dent and Gail Serrian.

Visitation services will be held Tuesday November 29, 2011 from 3pm until 9pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile in Livonia, Michigan 48152. The funeral home is located on the north side of Six Mile, east of I-275 and Newburgh Road.

The Funeral Service for Bill will be at 11am on Wednesday November 30, 2011 at Trinity Church of Livonia, located at 34500 6 Mile in Livonia MI 48152.
