

She was the fourth and last child born to her loving parents Silas and Caroline (Lindsay) Allen on the family farm near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. After graduating from a rural high school she left for the big city of Halifax, where she worked as a secretary and met her future husband Robert and lifelong friend Gloria. She was able to enjoy living in Europe and many Canadian postings with her military husband. She lived in Ottawa for many years working in the federal government before moving to British Columbia, living in New Westminster, Maple Ridge and Victoria. She recently moved back to Ontario to be closer to family.
Lorna loved to travel, especially to Palm Springs in the winter, and enjoyed following CFL football, the Canucks and Blue Jays. She was an expert knitter and quilter, always gifting her handmade creations to family members.
She is survived by her three children, Karl (Janet), Gretchen, and Glenn. Loving Nana to seven grandchildren, Sara, Ryan, Scott, Sean, Serina, Samantha, and Silas; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Kendra, Ada, and Claire. She was fun and loving Aunt Lorna to many nieces and nephews. Also survived by many lifelong friends across the country. She was the last of her immediate family, being predeceased by her parents and her siblings and in-laws, Don and Kaireen Allen, Keith and Mary Allen, and Joyce (Allen) and John Bourinot. Also predeceased by her former husband, Robert Theakston and her longtime partner John Williamson.
The family would like to thank Dr. Anaedu and all the staff at Henley Place for their compassionate care. As per her wishes there will be no visitation or service. She will be interred with her parents in Nova Scotia at a later date.
