

Beloved relative, friend and educator, Daniel O'Donnell died at his home among family and friends on August 9, 2012 at age 83. Born November 27, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio, O'Donnell earned his BS from Xavier University and MS from USC. He taught science and history for thirty years at Bolsa Grande High School in Garden Grove, where he was voted Extraordinary Educator by the alumni at the All Class Reunion in 2000. In addition to his love of family, he enjoyed reading, model railroads, radio controlled airplanes and Xavier basketball. He was a great conversationalist and loved people and America. He served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He gave back to his community by coaching a number of youth sports and rarely missed one of his children’s games. Dan lived his life as a true example to others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mary, his brother Tom, and sons Jim and Tim. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Marian Sullivan O'Donnell, children Dan (wife Becky), Patrick (wife Jenn), Kate Wilson (husband Jeff), daughters-in-law Kim Weinstein and Tamara O'Donnell, grandchildren Kelly, James, Meghan, and Molly O'Donnell and Paige and Allie Wilson.
A funeral mass will take place Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 3 pm, St. Joseph Church, 6220 E. Willow Street, Long Beach, followed by a reception at the Long Beach Yacht Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center, c/o Memorial Medical Center Foundation.
