

Dotty was born April 14, 1928 in Long Beach, California to Henry and Rose (Lowery) Rushton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Argil and her younger brother Fred.
She grew up active in the Atlantic Avenue Methodist Church and later was active at Cal Heights United Methodist Church. She married Argil P. Killingsworth on July 11, 1947. She had two children, Phil and Susan, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She graduated from Poly High School in 1945, Long Beach State College in 1961 and earned a Master’s degree in education from the University of St. Thomas in 1986. She taught elementary school from 1961 to 1993 at Roosevelt, Mark Twain and Longfellow.
She loved to travel the world, landing on every continent except Asia. Her last major trip was to Antarctica in 2005 to walk with the penguins.
She was active in many organizations, activities and sports throughout her life – P.E.O., Symphony Choir, AFS exchange student organization (welcoming 3 students into her home), Bridge, Golf, Tennis, the Teacher’s Bowling League and the Lakewood Mall Walkers.
She had many long-time friends and enjoyed hosting dinner parties and get-togethers in her home. She loved her family and loved traveling to visit them all.
She was surrounded by friends and loved ones when she passed.
