

Eunice G. Day, born in San Diego, CA on January 30, 1922, entered into heaven, June 29, 2011. Her parents, Nina Allen and William E. Gird, along with her 2 brothers, Richard and Rodrick, resided in Fallbrook, CA., for 20 wonderful years on the Vast Gird Ranch. She married Gilbert Van Dyke Jr, also from Fallbrook. They shared 37 memorable years together. After WWII they moved to Long Beach, where she has lived for the past 65 years. They had 3 children, Gil (deceased), Billy (deceased) and Kitty, who is presently residing in Long Beach. After being widowed for 3 years, Eunice remarried Robert Day and they shared 18 wonderful years. Throughout her life Eunice enjoyed being involved with the Fallbrook Historical Society. She was an avid gardener and skilled seamstress. Gifted in music Eunice played the violin and piano and sang in the church choirs. With her children she was very involved with the PTA, Boys Scouts, Sea Scouts, Campfire Girls and church youth groups. Later in life she enjoyed traveling, golf, square dancing and entertaining. She achieved her RN associates degree at LBCC when she was 45 years old and for 20 years she worked in obstetrics here in Long Beach. She is survived by her daughter; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Courtyard Care the excellent care she received these past few months.
