Faye was born December 20, 1935, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the daughter of John and Consuelo Mendoza.
Faye met Richard Flores, the love of her life at 15, although she didn’t know it yet. They started out as friends before dating then eventually marrying on May 2, 1953. Richard and Faye were married 38 years before Richard’s passing on April 26, 1991. Together they had 5 beautiful children, Richard, Rachel, Vera, Karen and Ronald.
Faye worked at Best Foods in Santa Fe Springs, CA for more than 20 years before retiring. After retirement she spent most of her time spoiling her many grandchildren.
Faye was a great cook and there are far too many favorite foods of hers to list, but a few that will never be matched are her Abuelita cookies, fideo, chalupas, tamales and last, but certainly not least, her handmade flour tortillas. Simply the best! Tamale making will never be the same without her loving touch and guidance.
Faye loved her family and will be missed by many.
Remaining to cherish Faye’s memory are her children Karen Harrington and Ron Flores; her 12 grandchildren; her 11 great grandchildren and her 2 great-great grandchildren; her sister Mary, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding Faye in death are her husband Richard, her daughters Vera Morales and Rachel Cornett and son Richard Flores. Her parents, John and Consuelo as well as her brothers Johnny Mendoza and Rudy Wilcox.
